How to Play
Lukes Washer Games are fun and exciting games that can be played by people of all ages, inside or outside. Similar to horseshoes, Lukes Washer Games add a new level of professionalism and skill. During the game, players pitch our custom made solid brass washers at our beautifully designed game board. The goal is to score 21 points exactly before your opponent does!
Pieces of the Game
The Pro Pocket
- The ProPocket is the extra small pocket on your game board. On both the Ultimate and Deluxe Model, the Pro Pocket is made of quality red leather. The Pro Pocket adds an extra challenge to the game. You must pitch into the small Pro Pocket before you can start scoring, and you have to seal your 21 points with another Pro Pocket to win! Whoever has 21 and the most Pro Pockets wins the game!
The Washers
- Each game comes with a set of 10 high quality brass washers (5 stars, 5 bars). Each set of 5 includes one silver washer that counts for a double score or nullifier. It also counts as a double Pro Pocket at the end of the game. For example, if you land a silver washer in an empty 5 point pocket, you will get 10 points. If you land a silver washer in a 5 pocket that has already been filled by your opponent, then you will cancel your opponent’s score of 5 and get 5 points for yourself.
The Board
-
Lukes offers 2 different models, the Ultimate Model and the Deluxe Model. The Ultimate Model is made with an extra layer of felt for quieter gameplay and includes high-quality leather pockets. Both modelsare made with double ply hardwood and a premium felt target face. - Each board includes 6 pockets: a 1-point pocket, a 2-point pocket, a 3-point pocket, a 4-point pocket, a 5-point pocket, and the Pro Pocket. The red dots around each pocket show how many points each pocket is worth (for example, in the center of the board there is a pocket with 5 red dots around it–this is the 5-point pocket).
- Our new exclusive raised (1/4 inch) buttoned pockets make for easier washer removal and help eliminate washer deflection. A great new standard feature of Lukes games!
- The Ultimate and Deluxe models are different in that the Ultimate Model has a four-layered construction while the Deluxe Model has a three-layered construction. As you can see, the Ultimate Model below has an extra layer of felt that absorbs more sound and allows for quieter gameplay. The Deluxe Model (also below) has one layer of felt.
In a new upgraded feature, both the deluxe and ultimate models come with two pocket covers. Washers can be stored in one pocket, while the distance cord is stored in the other pocket. See picture below for how the covered pocket design works!
The Distance Cord
- An 11 foot distance cord comes with each game. It is stored in a covered pocket and can be removed and hooked to the game board when you're ready to play. Players stand at the end of the distance cord and pitch washers at the board.
Object of the Game
To score exactly 21 points and finish out with a Pro Pocket before your opponent.
Playing the Game
- To play the game, players stand 11’ from the board using the attached measuring cord. From this distance players toss our handcrafted quality brass washers into the holes in the board to score points.
- Players must first score a Pro Pocket before they can start scoring or canceling an opponent’s score.
- Players must score their own Pro Pocket. If their washer is knocked into the Pro Pocket by the opponent, this doesn’t count as a scored Pro Pocket.
- Second player in each set cancels first player’s score by scoring in the same pocket one for one.
- Pro Pockets cannot be canceled. The player with the highest total points at the end of each set starts the new set.
- When a player scores 21 points exactly he is exempt from further scoring and is free to shoot Pro Pockets only.
Scoring
- One silver brass washer is included in each set that counts double score or nullifier. It also counts as double Pro Pocket at the end of the game.
- A player going over 21 will have a score of the amount over 21. For example, if they go five points over 21, their new score will be only five. The goal is to score exactly 21.
- Washers must hit the board first to be in play or score.
- Washers bouncing out of scoring pockets do not count.
- Washers knocked into scoring pockets by opponents count (unless Washers are knocked into the Pro Pocket. This does not count as a scored Pro Pocket).
End of Game
- The player with 21 points and the most Pro Pockets at the end of a set wins the game.
- In case of a tie, the players start a new set and shoot for Pro Pockets only. At the end of the set, the player with the most Pro Pockets wins the game.
Note: Lukes can also be played with two teams by players alternating sets.
